The Trustees

The Museum & Visitor Centre has been brought to life and is held together by the hard work and dedication of its Trustees.

Rob Hamblin (Chairman)

Rob has 20 years experience in managing projects in large commercial and public sector organisations (having managed projects for Argos, BAA, BSI, T-Mobile, Somerfield and Eurostar). Rob has excellent organisational skills and extensive experience of managing multi-disciplinary project teams.

Martin Johns (Secretary)

Martin has worked as Head of Youth Services for Northamptonshire Council and has served as a Town & District Councillor for Towcester for many years. He is currently responsible for the recruitment and training of volunteers for the museum.

Penny Bennett (Interpretive Schemes)

Penny has worked as Corporate Media Manager at the Open University and was Director of the 'OpenLearn Project' one of the largest open educational resource projects in the world. Penny has contributed extensively to the development of the Museum's interpretive schemes over since 2006.

John Prior (Communications and Marketing)

Head of Corporate Risk Management at Argos John will be overseeing the development of our communications and marketing strategy. 


Other Important People:

Paul Woodfield (Historical Adviser)

Paul is a very experienced archaeologist, writer and local historian who has acted as a consultant for English Heritage. He is currently acting as an adviser on the development of the museums interpretive schemes and exhibitions.

Sonia Hawes (Local artist and historian)

Sonia was Daventry District’s first Arts Officer for 12 years and has curated many exhibitions, mostly art and crafts, and has also created museum displays. She has worked in schools as a Creative Practitioner, ran a 3 year arts project at Sulgrave Manor and organised exhibitions at historic properties as well as running workshops for the Big Draw and Heritage days. Sonia currently tutors painting and drawing, life drawing and creative writing running courses and runs art holidays. She is also a member of Eydon Historical Research Group for whom she has written papers and illustrated the group’s publications.

Alison Cutler (Graphic and web designer and local historian)

Alison is a freelance Design & Marketing Consultant with 20 years experience of design for both print and the web. She has worked with and managed both publishing houses and internet companies as well as undertaking national and international marketing for businesses. Alison is also a member of Eydon Historical Research Group and has a keen interest in historical research.
